Third-year morning students at the College of Education Ibn Rushd for Humanities, University of Baghdad, organized an academic artistic activity featuring a cinematic presentation of Hamlet by the renowned playwright William Shakespeare.
The initiative primarily aimed to enhance students’ linguistic and performance skills, while cultivating their abilities in expression and delivery. It also provided a practical approach to understanding classical literary texts, complementing theoretical study with applied practice. By encouraging active student engagement, the activity strengthened self-confidence and enriched both educational and linguistic experiences.
The choice of Hamlet was deliberate, given its profound intellectual and human dimensions in addressing themes such as inner conflict, hesitation, justice, and revenge. As one of the most distinguished classical texts, it contributes significantly to developing critical analysis skills, while showcasing the beauty of Shakespearean language and the uniqueness of theatrical style.
This activity aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4, which advocates for quality education.
