The Department of Pathology and Poultry Diseases, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit, held a scientific workshop titled “Pathological Aspects of Anti-Biofilm Compounds”, delivered by Prof. Dr. Inaam Badr Faleh with participation from faculty and researchers.

The session examined biofilms as complex microbial communities resistant to conventional antibiotics and protective of pathogens against immune responses. It reviewed natural, chemical, and plant-based compounds, alongside modern strategies to prevent or disrupt biofilm formation. Discussion highlighted enzymes and nanomaterials in inhibiting bacterial adhesion and disrupting quorum sensing, thereby enhancing treatment sensitivity and reducing virulence.

The workshop concluded with recommendations to advance these approaches to curb antibiotic resistance and improve veterinary and medical therapies. This initiative supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education).
