The College of Law team from the University of Baghdad participated in the 6th edition of the International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court in Arabic, held in Saudi Arabia. The event was organized by the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration, in collaboration with the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Commercial Law Development Program, and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).

The university’s team competed with 154 teams from various Arab and international universities, demonstrating exceptional skills in commercial arbitration. This performance highlights the high quality of academic and training preparation the college provides to its students, enhancing its standing both academically and professionally under the supervision of Dr. Lubna Abdul Hussein Issa and Dr. Mona Naim Jaza.

In a remarkable individual achievement, student Zahra Haider Ahmed won the award for Best Advocate, ranking 7th out of 462 advocates. Her success reflects her excellence in legal advocacy and her ability to present a professional argument before international arbitration panels, earning admiration and attention from the international judging committees.

The College of Law has been committed to supporting its students and empowering them to participate in these global competitions, recognizing them as valuable opportunities to gain practical experience in international commercial arbitration and enhance their advocacy skills before international arbitration bodies, thus supporting academic excellence.

This achievement is a significant addition to the College of Law’s journey and opens broad horizons for its students to excel in the legal field, strengthening their presence on the international stage and reaffirming the college’s position among leading academic institutions in the field of law.

This competition contributes to the realization of Sustainable Development Goal 17, which calls for partnerships to achieve the goals.
