The results of the Arab Ranking of Universities issued by the Association of Arab Universities in its second edition were announced today, where the University of Baghdad won first place locally and 18 Arabs out of 180 universities that appeared in the ranking.
The University of Baghdad showed qualitative progress in this classification despite the increase in the number of participating universities from 115 universities last year to 180 universities this year, and this progress comes in light of the studied plan of the university to deal with the classification, which required the provision of accurate and specialized data.
The Arab ranking of universities was designed based on a methodology based on four indicators commensurate with the vision and needs of the Arab countries, as the classification includes a set of measurable criteria, namely teaching and learning by 30%, scientific research by 40%, creativity, entrepreneurship, and innovation by 15%, and international and local cooperation and community service by 15%.
The classification also has an economic dimension with the aim of encouraging scientific research based on creativity, entrepreneurship, and innovation in universities, encouraging the marketing and dissemination of scientific outputs and technology management, to help reach a knowledge-based economy.
This achievement reflects the level of support provided by the University of Baghdad for scientific research and indicates its position among Arab universities, as well as the efforts made to reach these results from the Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance and the great support of the university presidency to serve the educational process and our country Iraq.
