The College of Pharmacy organized an online workshop titled “Dementia: How to Provide Support and Care from Family and Friends,” under the supervision of the college dean, Dr. Sarmad Hashem Al-Khatib.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness about dementia, characterized by a decline in memory, thinking, behavior, and the ability to perform daily activities. Although dementia primarily affects the elderly, it is not considered a natural part of aging.
The activity addressed approximately 50 million people affected by dementia, with this number expected to triple by the year 2050. It also discussed the different forms of dementia and provided tips for dealing with those affected. Each individual can contribute to improving the living conditions of dementia patients through their personal behavior. As dementia patients gradually lose their ability to remember, it is essential not to forget them.
