The College of Pharmacy obtained the patent tagged “The use of carvon oil for the treatment of acute renal insufficiency induced by fatty polysaccharides” by the researchers, the Dean of the College, Dr. Sarmad Hashem Al-Khatib and Dr. Saja Majeed Sharif, a teacher at Isra University, College of Pharmacy, issued by the Ministry of Planning Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control.
The invention aims to find a new treatment for acute renal insufficiency that occurs as a result of blood poisoning, which is one of the most important causes of renal insufficiency and leading to death or chronic renal insufficiency in hospitals in the world in general and in Iraq in particular, as the current treatments are limited to dialysis and giving antibiotics without controlling the reduction of cytokines, which is the main element in blood poisoning and thus kidney injury, and carvon oil has proven its effectiveness in treating renal insufficiency caused by blood poisoning.
