On the occasion of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, Prof.Dr. Mohammed Abdul Razzaq Al-Sufi, a researcher at the Center for Market Research and Consumer Protection, delivered a lecture titled “An Improvement Plan for Competing in International Rankings.”

The lecture covered an introduction to recognized international rankings and highlighted the importance of participation in these rankings. It provided an explanation of the criteria for the top two rankings, including the Shanghai Ranking, which considers five criteria: Research output (Q1), Research influence (CNCl), International collaboration (IC), Research quality (Top), and International academic awards (Award). The Times Higher Education (THE) ranking, with its five main metrics, including Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, International outlook, and Industry, which further branches into 18 sub-metrics, was also explained.

The lecture outlined a plan to facilitate entry into these rankings and surpass the qualifying threshold. This plan likely involves strategies to achieve the required number of citations and research with a percentage exceeding the threshold by 20%. This is a proactive approach to ensuring the visibility of the center and its scientific departments in the subjects field of these rankings.
