The Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects has announced the results of its 2023 edition, revealing Baghdad University’s competitive position in the field of Dentistry and Oral Sciences according to the prestigious Shanghai ranking for 2024. This remarkable achievement reflects our commitment to excellence in dental education, research, and clinical service.

Baghdad University secured a leading competitive position (201-300) alongside its counterparts in the Shanghai ranking, which evaluated academically one thousand nine hundred universities from one hundred and four countries worldwide. The 2023 results classified global universities competing in fifty-five subjects, spanning the Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences, considering indicators such as research quality, international awards

The University of Baghdad offers a comprehensive curriculum that covers all aspects of dentistry and oral science, including oral biology and pathology, oral medicine and surgery, orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, periodontics, prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and dental public health. Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, congratulated Baghdad University and the entire Iraqi academic community on this new achievement. This adds to their accomplishments in global rankings, with Iraq now ranked 37th worldwide.

It is noteworthy, that the Shanghai Ranking by Subject evaluates the research performance of universities in 54 subjects across five broad fields, based on a range of objective indicators, such as the number and quality of publications, citations, international collaboration, and academic awards. The ranking is published annually by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, a fully independent organization dedicated to research on higher education intelligence and consultation.
