Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, and supervision by the Rector of the University of Baghdad, Prof.Dr. Munir Hameed Al-Saadi, with the presence of the Head of the Iraqi Federation, Captain Adnan Dergal, and representatives from the Prime Ministers and the Republic. The Annual Marathon International Road Race held on the grounds of the University of Baghdad, under the theme of “Love and Peace”, with participation a number of students of Iraqi, Arab, and foreign universities.
The marathon included honoring the winning students by the Rector of the University of Baghdad and the head of the Iraqi Federation in the top three positions. In the (3 km) category for female students, Diana Karim from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad secured the first place in the international race. Meanwhile, Jordanian student Ahmed Mohammed claimed the first position in the 10 km race.
It is worth noting that this is the second marathon of its kind hosted by the University of Baghdad, which witnessed broad international participation from Arab and foreign universities.
