The Women Empowerment Unit at University of Baghdad organized an awareness activity on the occasion of World Mental Health Day to highlight the risks of these conditions and their impact on women in Iraq. The event also aimed to introduce modern approaches for dealing with mental health issues and ways to mitigate their spread. The activity aims to raise awareness about the psychological and social factors contributing to the increase in mental health disorders among women, given their higher susceptibility to various forms of depression compared to men.

The activity included speeches by both the Assistant Rector for Scientific Affairs, Prof.Dr. Marwan Abdul Hameed, and the head of the Women Empowerment Unit at the University of Baghdad, Mrs. Sanaa Aboud, they emphasized the woman’s societal role and the necessity of education on preventive measures to protect women from such conditions.

At the conclusion of the event, the organizers presented several recommendations to the relevant authorities, urging them to take action and share these recommendations with officials and decision-makers to improve mental health services in Iraq.
