A teacher at the College of Education for Girls, Department of Sociology, Hussein Khalil Ibrahim, participated in the third scientific forum held by the Iraqi Scholars Foundation for Dialogue tagged (The role of Sharia colleges in addressing negative phenomena in society) under the auspices of the Iraqi Jurisprudence Academy of Senior Scholars for in the Mosque of the Great Imam Abu Hanifa al-Numan “may God have mercy on him”, as a group of senior Iraqi scholars and professors of Iraqi universities participated in the forum sessions…

The participation of the teacher comes with his research entitled (Guidelines of extremist thought in the Iraqi environment: an anthropological reading) and the research started from many questions, the most important of which is whether social directives such as family, neighborhood, school, mosque, and media can play an important role in supporting intellectual security in confronting extremist ideology in Iraqi society? How can cultural guidelines such as social values and norms play an important role in countering extremist ideology in Iraqi society? The importance of the research came from the fact that Iraqi society has faced great challenges in its general construction, whether at the political, economic, or cultural level, especially after the year 2000 and the great defect witnessed by society because of which it has maintained its balance and cohesion, as successive governments have contributed to the continuation of this deteriorating reality, which helped the emergence of movements, groups and extremist ideas that led to a defect in intellectual security, taking advantage of this situation to their advantage in promoting their ideas and misguided trends in influencing the behavior and beliefs of society, youth and children through social media and the media, and the exploitation of mosque pulpits and some channels supporting them to achieve certain gains at the expense of stability and community security. Therefore, there has been a significant decline in the social and cultural system, which has negatively reflected on the support and stability of social and intellectual security in the face of extremist ideology.
