A delegation from the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Graduate Studies at the University of Baghdad conducted an official visit to the Parliamentary Development Institute – Iraqi Parliament, led by the Dean of the Institute, Assist.Prof.Dr. Saif Dawoud Al-Ahmar.

The delegation’s members included Head of the Biotechnology Department, Prof.Dr. Qais Qassem Ghaimah, Director of the Scientific Affairs Unit, Assist.Prof.Dr. Abdul Amir Muhammad Gharib, Director of the Scientific Promotions Unit, Lecturer Dr.Wassen Abdul Razzaq Gharbi, Lecturer Dr. Riyam Basem, as well as, Dr. Asma Ghafir from Ibn Sina College, and Dr. Shahd Tariq from the College of Science at the University of Baghdad.

During the visit, the delegation met with the General Director of the Parliamentary Development Institute, Mr.Saad Fayyad, emphasized the significance of collaboration and communication between the two institutes, particularly in the areas of training and professional development.

In turn, Al-Ahmar expressed his hope for cooperation in fields such as human genetics, environmental studies, and plant sciences, as well as various scientific disciplines. He highlighted the institute’s shift from a solely educational role to partnering with state institutions to cultivate professionals in precise specialized aspects.

In response, Fayyad stressed the importance of addressing climate, environmental, and drug control. He underlined that the Institute’s activities aren’t confined to a single specialization, but rather align with the specialized committees especially the Health Committee. Fayyad also mentioned the Institute’s desire to strengthen ties between civil society and the House of Representatives.
