The University of Baghdad has achieved significant rankings in various categories according to the Spanish Webometrics ranking. It has been ranked first among 122 Iraqi universities, 41 among 1365 Arab universities, and 1571 globally among 12002 international universities. This places the university in the top 3% of Arab universities and the top 13% globally.

This achievement is the result of the university’s strategic plan, which was prepared and closely monitored by the Presidency of the University of Baghdad. The plan aimed to improve the university’s ranking and involved several measures. One notable measure was the launch of the digital repository of the University of Baghdad, making all the research from the university’s journals available directly and for free. Additionally, the university focused on enhancing the visibility of its professors and postgraduate students by actively managing their accounts in scientific research portals. The university also took steps to foster the culture of scientific research by creating LinkedIn pages for all faculty members and departments in our esteemed university and keeping them updated in English.

The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research organization affiliated with the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas ( CSIC), which is recognized as the largest public research agency  in Spain.
