On Wednesday morning, May 10 , 2023, and after an absence of nearly 12 years, College of Languages hosted Mr. Dhameer Sadiqouf , the Cultural attaché of the Russian Federation in Baghdad, and the embassy delegation in an official invitation by the dean of the College of Languages to attend the cultural event organized by the Department of Russian Language.
The festival included different activities commenced with a speech delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Ali Adnan Mushawash, Assistant Dean of College of Languages. The speech presented a historical background about the department foundation , the number of students , the current study programs for bachelor and master degrees in addition to the protocols concluded between Iraqi and Russian counterparts.
On his part , Mr. Sadiqouf expressed the embassy readiness to open up space for cooperation with College of Languages – Department of Russian Language. Moreover, the cultural attaché extended his thanks to the department teaching staff for the vital role they play in the process of teaching Russian Language to the students. Furthermore, the head of the department , Assist. Prof. Dr. Hadeel Ismael, provided an interesting history about the department recalling the names of the first founders such as Hayat Shararah , Muhammed Younus , Jalil Kamaluddin , Dhiya Nafi’ and others. She also dealt in her speech with the need for activating the agreements with the Russian side emphasizing the importance of providing staff members and students with the opportunity to attend summer courses through the Russian embassy and valid official agreements.
The event witnessed various folkloric and popular activities presented by the students and teaching staff. After the ceremony, commemorative photographs were taken for this occasion and a shield of College of Languages was presented to the Russian Embassy by the Deanship of College of Languages.
