Sponsored by of Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid Al-Saadi, the Rector of the University of Baghdad, the Department of Studies and Planning at the university, in cooperation with the Ibn Sina Center, held an electronic seminar on the Zoom program through the University of Baghdad platform for sustainable development entitled Technology and Sustainability. Participated in the symposium roughly five hundred participants between researcher, professor and student.
Prof. Dr. Yarub Qahtan Al-Douri, Professor of Nanotechnology at the University of Malaya – Malaysia lectured at the symposium, where he talked about the topics of renewable energy and nanotechnology, and mentioned that nanoscience is to modify atoms or molecules to make new products, and this reflects the size of the leap made by this technology compared to the microscopic microtechnology that produced computers, transistors and all electronic equipment known now, where nanotechnology reduces dimensions by about a thousand times and thus reduces the area by about a million times and this leads to increase the speed and reduces the energy consumption of this equipment.
It is noteworthy that the University of Baghdad launched last month (the University of Baghdad platform for sustainable development) headed by the Director of the Department of Studies and Planning, Dr. Manal Al-Kubaisi, as this platform will provide a space for dialogue and work toward positive change to raise community awareness to advance and achieve the goals of sustainable development.
