The College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad organized a scientific workshop in the presence of the Rector of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid Al-Saadi, Dr. Hanan Al-Fatlawi, member of Iraqi Parliament, Dean of the College of Medicine, Assist.Prof.Dr. Amin Al-Alwani, a delegation from the Iraqi Ministry of Health and a number of professors and students of the college, which was held at Al-Kindi Hall in the college.

The workshop witnessed discussions of the attendees and their suggestions and recommendations which aimed at the need to raise awareness of reducing the use of antibiotics, included lectures presented by delegated guests from the World Health Organization ( WHO), the Iraqi Ministry of Health, the Middle East Network for Community Health, and professors from the College of Medicine. At the end of the event, a set of recommendations came out, including inviting the Ministry of Health and the relevant authorities to enter into real partnerships in the field of health, with the need to organize a clear and specific prescription of antibiotics by doctors, pharmacists, and specialists, in addition to reviewing the use of antibiotics and activating the laws as a completion of the development of the information network on pharmaceutical amounts between hospitals and laboratories in all governorates of Iraq.
