Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Maleh, the dean of the college of physical education and sports sciences at the University of Baghdad has received members of the Community Police at Rusafa district, Red Crescent Society and from the Media and Municipal Awareness Division of Adhamiya Municipality in Baghdad to deliver awareness lectures on drug addiction, cyber extortion and environmental hygiene. Colonel Saif Sami Shawkat from the Community Police has given a lecture on the concept of drugs defined as chemicals leading to addiction and nervous system toxicity causing drowsiness, sleepiness or unconsciousness that can be of artificial or natural kinds. He shed light on the symptoms of addiction can be summarized as shivering, redness of the eyes and dilated pupils, lack of attention to personal hygiene and general appearance, loss or increase of appetite, dark circles under the eyes, adding that such a disorder is resulted from family, economic, environmental and other reasons, recommending the need to strengthen the religious conscience of children, respecting their opinions, listening to them to develop their talents through positive activities.

Then Dr. Nabil Ali Aziz from the Iraqi Red Crescent Society delivered a lecture on (Prevention of electronic extortion) that refers to an attempt to obtain material and moral gains by threatening to defame the victim through posting private pictures or information, misuse of social media, lack of legal sanctions or hardware protection, lack of communication with the competent security authorities, emotional or sexual coercion. He stated that cyber extortion leads to anxiety, suicide, waste of time, divorce, domestic violence, drug addiction, delinquency to work with armed groups, murders, etc. At last the Adhamiya Municipality Team gave a lecture on the environmental hygiene, calling female students to pay attention to public hygiene for enjoying a beautiful and attractive environment of green spaces for the purpose of reducing dust storms in Baghdad. The dean of the college honored the participants with the college’s shields in appreciation of their valuable efforts in such educational events.
