Prof. Dr. Basim Shaba Abed, a faculty member of the department of water resources engineering at the University of Baghdad has published the research entitled: (Simulation and assessment of water supply network for specified districts at Najaf Governorate) in the Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Materials issued from Stockholm, Sweden, listed in the Scopus Q2 Journals with an Impact Factor (1.488).

Prof. Dr. Bassim Shaba is having many valuable research papers published in sober international journals within the global repositories that addressed the simulation and evaluation of hydraulic properties and chlorine residues in water supply network in the studied area at Najaf Governorate in Iraq using the (Water-GEMS Hydraulics Modeling Software). Samples of water from the studied area were taken and analyzed in the laboratory to identify the chlorine residues where a good match was obtained from the measured and expected pressure values. The results of water distribution system (WDS) during peak demand hours indicated that the pump unit’s capacity could not meet the high-water demand, resulting pressure loss with values between 0.1 and 2 bar. Moreover, the simulated results of the residual chlorine levels were within the permissible limits of 0.4–0.7 ppm.
