The Department of Chemistry, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, has organized a seminar entitled “Narcotic drugs and psychotropic and psychological substances: types and causes of abuse” in the presence of a number of students, researchers and those concerned with educational and psychological guidance committees. The seminar aimed to introduce the scourge of drugs, which is one of the most serious crimes and the most influential on the individual and society according to the number of drug users that cause disruption of human resources, especially youth, as well as its awareness goal, the composition of chemical drugs, psychological and social effects and the damage causing them.

This panel discussion was presented by Prof. Dr. Hadama Razouki, Dr. Zainab Abdel Zahra and Dr. Shorouq Badri, for the sake of shedding light on the scourge of drugs, their chemicals and their social, psychological and economic effects, indicating that drugs are the extent of the patient’s impact on the addiction process and his inability to break free from it to be complementary to his personality, stressing that drugs are according to chemical processes to obtain the required psychological effect, recommending the need to work to address addiction problems, reduce the spread of the phenomenon, and protect society from its dangers and causes.  The spread of the phenomenon of various drug abuse which varies from one individual to another and between communities.
