The two students from the Department of Architectural Engineering at the College of Engineering, namely Sadruddin Barakat from the fifth grade and Hussein Haider Jumaa from the fourth grade, and their supervisor, Assist. Prof. Dr. Rand Hazim Agha, have won the third place award in the Iconic Residential Tower 2023 Competition after competing with a group of participating teams from countries all over the world. The competition included designing a 60 storey residential tower in the United Arab Emirates after conducting a study on a group of local models in the region, where the design proposal is relied on excluding contextual and traditional elements as in the case of the most common towers in the region through analyzing the building façade according to a set of principles related to integration between creativity and identity.
