The Department of Quranic Sciences and Islamic Education at the College of Education for Women, has organized a scientific symposium entitled (Empowering Women from an Islamic Perspective) that was attended by a group of professors, employees and students. The seminar aimed to shed light on the concept of women’s empowerment in terms of clarifying their legitimate rights, facilitating methods of practicing them, the role of social media in introducing women’s rights, correcting concepts prevailing in the society about the role of women in general, and educating students towards empowerment that combines originality and modernity.

The symposium reached at a set of recommendations, the most important of which is the establishment of special centers for the rehabilitation of women and their awareness of their social, economic and political rights and the protection of women through the development of laws that preserve all their rights and encourage women to have their independent personality and to be with men in line with their physical and psychological capabilities by providing funds to have a decent and safe life, keenness on women’s education by opening educational centers, eradicating illiteracy and ignorance since education is the first step towards activating empowerment of women, protecting them socially by enacting laws, combating violence in all its forms so as to correct the idea that women are weak, unable to protect themselves or they are subject to criticism and violence.
