The Dean of the Higher Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Faihaa Abdullah Yaqoub, has participated in the second international conference entitled (Operation of the Grand Faw Port and the Establishment of the Dry Canal: Future Visions and Investment Opportunities) organized and sponsored by the Ministry of Transport and the General Company for Iraqi Ports in Basra Governorate with the participation of Iraqi universities, research centers, companies and international ports.
The conference aimed to shed light on the importance of these two strategic projects for the Iraqi state, as they provide a fundamental pillar for the transformation of the Iraqi economy from a rent-based economy into a sustainable economy with diversified sources. The conference was opened by the Director General of the Iraqi Ports Company, Mr. Farhan Al-Fartusi, who stated that the Iraqi ports in general and the Grand Faw Port in particular have an important place in the thinking of the Iraqi state as a tributary supporting the economic sector of the country, stressing that such projects are for all Iraqis, so it recommended an increasing attention from the legislative and executive authorities in this regard by overcoming all the difficulties facing this work.
