The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Science, in cooperation with the Directorate of Drug Control at the Ministry of Interior, has organized an awareness seminar entitled “Drugs and psychotropic substances and their negative role in the community” in the presence of a number of students, educational guidance committees and heads of departments in the college. The seminar aimed to shed light on the phenomenon of drug abuse, the reasons for the spread of this phenomenon, the position of the Iraqi legislator on drug crime and ways to address this phenomenon, which is one of the serious crimes and the most influential on the individual and society.

It was presented by the Director of the Relations and Media Department at the Anti-Drug Directorate, Colonel Bilal Sobhi Jabr, and the director of Medical Services at the Criminal Evidence Department at the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Zainab Satea Abdul Fattah, who talked about the role of gangs in this trade, and their abhorrence of theft and murder and the use of various methods to earn more money, indicating that the Ministry of Interior is following the number of drug users that cause disruption. To confront these crimes, countries have resorted to issuing strict laws based on international conventions on drug control.
