The Assist. Prof. Dr. Asrar Abdullah Hassan from the Department of Chemical Engineering at the College of Engineering, has participated in the first scientific conference on (Energy Technologies Management: Towards a Clean Environment and Confronting Climate Change) sponsored by the House of Wisdom, the Department of Total Quality Management and Institutional Development in cooperation with the Ministries of Environment and Electricity. She has submitted a research paper entitled: (Simulation of Low-Concentration Heavy Metal Removal from Industrial Effluents with a Bulk Liquid Membrane using MATLAB).
The research aimed to use the mathematical model to simulate different processes in many chemical engineering sciences in general, as determining the kinetic coefficients of heavy metal ion transport processes is important because it provides basic information to the system, especially since mathematical modeling is simple and easily achievable without the need for a practical experimental system; and therefore it has attracted increasing attention in recent decades. The research describes the kinetics of the mechanisms of transporting heavy metals and converting them into compounds for use in industry, and the mathematical model explains the behavior of heavy metal separation, and the results of practical experiments were simulated, to a larger extent, as well as building a fuzzy logic control system.
