Prof. Dr. Adnan Yassin Mustafa, a lecturer from the Department of Sociology at the College of Education for Women, has issued a joint book entitled (Children of ISIS: Legacy of Conflict and Darkness of Future) in 2022 within the series of publications of Al-Bayan Center for Studies and Planning in Baghdad. The book discusses one of the Iraqi problems through searching for its roots, at least some of them, in a comprehensive vision, which investigates the most important element in curbing human violence, namely: the state according to the recognition of the Iraqi person in particular, and the problems brought by its shaking, and the political instability that led to the emergence of pre-state structures which implied factors of violence.
Dr. Adnan Yassin stressed also that the starting point in analyzing this problem will be the family since as an eastern country the family takes an important place in the Iraqi community, and it is the first vector of values in the process of upbringing and as the process by which values are transmitted through generations. He added that it is obvious that any problem facing the country at the general level will have repercussions on the first pillar in society, which is the family, and to the extent that the problem of ISIS children is linked to extremist ideology, it constitutes an episode in a long series of setbacks experienced by the family. The majority of women will not be able to return to home, either because their property is being confiscated or they have nowhere to go, and even because of the fear that the remaining children will be subject to retaliation, refusal of the detention authorities inside the camps to allow them to come back to the camps, since the government considers the decision to expel women and children associated with ISIS and prevent them from returning to their areas as a social decision.
