The Center for Women’s Studies held a scientific lecture entitled “Misogyny and the inferiority view of women” presented by the lecturer Dr. Reem Khamis Mahdi via the PowerPoint and the Data Show Projector on the occasion of the launch of the 16-day campaign to combat violence against women. She stated during her speech that the term Misogyny refers to misogyny – and is synonymous with the term “Misandry” and refers to the hatred of, contempt for, or prejudice against women as being an ancient Greek term consisting of two syllables, as the word Miso refers to hatred and the word Gyne refers to women, so the term “Misogyny” is opposed to the term Philogyny that refers to the love and passion for women and it is similar to misogyny in concept referring to Sexism that is a process of classification and discrimination based on sex or gender and as a basis in the classification of individuals and not on the efficiency factor or other factors to distinguish between people.

Misogyny also refers to social injustice and the existence of a large gap in the perception of women and men and their mental and physical potential, as women may be deprived of medical care and difficult and important professions granted to men because of this view. It is noteworthy that Misogyny ranges in its forms from domestic violence and ending with Femicide that is a hate crime which is broadly defined as the intentional killing of women or girls because they are female and where harassment is considered as a type of Misogyny as it includes forcing women to accept the harassment of men and also implies a kind of control over the presence of women in the street.
