The college of fine arts at the University of Baghdad has announced the launch of the proceedings of the Film and Television Festival at Haqqi Al-Shibli Hall with the participation of nearly one hundred short films and the presence of a large number of official figures, artists, intellectuals and the public with a heavy participation from the artistic, media and academic circles.
The opening curriculum began with a blessed recitation of any of the Holy Quran and the reading of Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs of Iraq and the custom of republican peace, as well as a distinguished series of short films that won the approval of the audience. Then the dean of the college, Dr. Muthadh Ajeel gave a speech in which he praised the efforts of the arbitration and preparatory committees and the supervisors of the students as they reap the fruits of their diligence and give them absolute freedom for creativity and diligence to accomplish professional work that can be the starting point towards practical work and definition of the labor market with the high skills possessed by the students. Then Dr. Hikmat Al-Baidani, head of the Department of Film and Television Arts, gave a speech in which he stressed the importance of such presentations and artistic works as reflecting the true identity for every young director.
