The Department of Astronomy and Space, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, held a workshop entitled “Fundamentals of Astronomy” in the presence of a number of students, amateurs and researchers specialized in the subject of the workshop.
The workshop aimed to review the most important academic fundamentals in astronomy, as seen by professors from the specialists, and the important role played by space technology in daily life, especially in achieving global development plans, by accessing data derived from space, applications and infrastructure of systems that are based on space applications such as space communications, satellite navigation systems, remote sensing, and monitoring the globe and its atmosphere via meteorology. The workshop was supervised by Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdul Razzaq Salman with the contribution of the Assist. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Kamel Ahmed and Assist. Lecturer Haider Reda Hussein, included a presentation on the principles of astronomy and a definition of scientific terms that are used to measure distances and angles and the types of technologies used such as spectra and optical measurements.
