The Department of Biotechnology in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science held a scientific symposium entitled “Secrets of Breast Cancer and its Challenges: a step towards saving life” in the presence of the dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Abdul Karim al-Qazzaz, his assistant for administrative affairs and a number of students, researchers and specialists in medical affairs.

The symposium aimed to try to raise awareness of breast cancer by introducing symptoms and treatment and increasing knowledge of the early detection of this disease, which is associated with higher rates of long-term survival in order to reduce mortality rates resulting from this disease and detect most cases in early stages and raise awareness of the importance of encouraging early screening, especially women over forty years of age, and introduce the disease and its stages of examination. This event was attended by Dr. Rasha al-Sahlani, Dr. Zainab Saad, Dr. Zainab Farqad, Dr. Hala Abdul Kareem, Dr. Lamia Tarek, Dr. Ammar Adib and the researcher Jinan Qassim, who called for periodic diagnosis through self-examination and clinical breast examination to know the methods of the disease and its treatment, which comes within the framework of the relentless and continuous pursuit to educate the different women of society about the importance of preventing cancer and guiding women to the right methods of treatment and highlighting the importance of early detection.
