Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, rector of the University of Baghdad chaired the twentieth regular meeting of the university council with the membership of his assistants for administrative & scientific affairs and deans of faculties. The rector began the session with praising his historical visit to the University of Anbar and signing of a memorandum of understanding on scientific cooperation between the two parties which will represent a real treasure through the development of a permanent joint exhibition of scientific productions which will serve as an academic icon for other Iraqi universities.

The members asserted that approximately ten thousand postgraduate students of the University of Baghdad in various disciplines should be available in the labor market, in conjunction with the presence of five university journals entered in Scopus Elsevier’s abstract and citation database. Then the members discussed the need to develop research teams to increase scientific output, conduct research in the field of energy production to encounter crises, research in the field of COVID-19 vaccines, strategies for solving water crisis, pointing out that such research teams will be selected by deans based on certain criteria for promoting the identity of higher education in the country and for marketing knowledge effectively and rapidly. It is noteworthy that the council of the University of Baghdad addressed also a report submitted by the department of quality assurance and university performance on the achievement ratios of the government program accomplished by all university formations, as well as the ratification of a number of scientific promotions and some paragraphs related to undergraduate and postgraduate students included in the previous agenda.
