The Periodontics Diseases Branch at the college of dentistry held recently an online lecture via Zoom platform entitled “The treatment of stage I-III Periodontitis: the EFP S3 level clinical practice guideline” delivered by Prof. Lain Chapple, a professor of periodontology and consultant in restorative dentistry from the school of dentistry at the University of Birmingham, UK and head of research for the institute of clinical sciences.

The lecturer dealt with the basic guidelines adopted for the study and treatment of the supporting structures of teeth, as well as the common diseases and conditions that affect the supporting structures and tissues in the mouth or the gums in level 2 and 3 of periodontitis, including sizing and scraping the root, then after a month it is to be evaluated especially for the periodontal pockets of more than 6 mm in order to determine whether the patient needs a gum surgery with the oriented membrane on condition that the use of antibiotics should be limited to the level 3 of periodontitis.
