Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, rector of the University of Baghdad has received recently Mr. Nasser Mammadov, the Chargé d’affaires of the Azerbaijani embassy in Baghdad accompanied by Hafez Aghayev as Consul General of Azerbaijan in their first visit to the university. The two sides discussed the mechanism of cooperation with Azerbaijani universities through the inauguration of a department of the Azerbaijani language at the college of languages, in addition to donating a large number of literary books dealing with the history, culture and higher education of Azerbaijan.
For his part, the rector of the University of Baghdad proposed activating memoranda of understanding between the two sides, through cultural cooperation, intellectual outputs, as well as exchange of professors and students of undergraduate and postgraduate studies, suggesting the training the Iraqi students of nursing in Azerbaijan to refine their practical skills. At the conclusion of the meeting, the visiting guests dedicated a book of a museum carpet to the rector which deals with the history and scientific achievements of Azerbaijan, in turn Dr. Munir al-Saadi dedicated the Ishtar Gate Sculpture to the Chargé d’affaires which embodies the cultural heritage of Iraq. It is worth mentioning that this meeting was attended by the assistant rector for scientific affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdul kareem Al-Sammarraie and the director of the department of missions and cultural relations, Dr. Sudad Amer.
