The college of science hosted lately the meeting of the ministerial committee in charge of developing learning and research laboratories in Iraqi universities, in the presence of the rector of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, as well as the rector of Al-Nahrain University, Prof. Dr. Ali al-Shawi. The Undersecretary of the ministry of higher education and scientific research, Dr. Ali Hamid al-Shukri stated in his speech that this project includes the rehabilitation of the bacteriology lab at the college of science and the immunology lab at the college of veterinary medicine, pointing out that there are three stages in this regard, starting with training the staff working in these laboratories to use such advanced equipment, in line with similar initiatives at other universities.
For his part, the rector of the University of Baghdad, Dr. Munir al-Saadi, confirmed that the university always seeks to develop its scientific laboratories and to benefit from the experiences of its scholars at studying in international universities, in activation of a number of cultural agreements and scientific partnerships under way that would contribute to upgrading the level of services provided for its postgraduates students. It is noteworthy that the ministry of higher education and scientific research has paid special attention to many precautionary measures related to chemical and biosafety matters through coordination with a ministerial committee formed for this end, other responsibilities of this committee is to follow-up the development of training strategies and mutual programs with global bodies, agencies and organizations.
