The college of pharmacy at the University of Baghdad organized an electronic workshop entitled “The role of the pharmacist in total parenteral nutrition” delivered by Assist. Prof. Zeina Muthafer Anwar from the clinical pharmacy branch via Zoom platform.
The most important objectives of this workshop were to introduce the role of the pharmacist in this regard and to highlight the health problems commonly associated with to find appropriate solutions. At first she defined the concept of total parenteral nutrition (PN) as an intravenous administration of nutrition, which may include protein, fat, minerals, vitamins and other elements for patients who cannot eat or absorb enough food through tube feeding formula or by mouth to maintain their good nutrition status, also to compare it with intravenous solutions, the cases used in, its components and how to administrate in a correct way.
