The Basic Sciences Branch at the college of dentistry sponsored a virtual symposium entitled (Measurement of microbial growth) via Zoom platform. The symposium included some lectures that addressed topics related to introducing the process of bacterial growth and its requirements, as being a complex process that involves many biochemical reactions leading to the division of many new bacterial cells.

The lecturers explained that the binary fission is the most common method of a sexual reproduction by a separation of the body into two new bodies with all the components inside, including the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), then forming a wall in the middle to separate the components, so that the two parts then begin to move away from each other, until they are completely produced and where the new bacteria are completely identical to the parent one.
