Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, rector of the University of Baghdad held a meeting with the representatives of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate, most of whom are faculty members at our beloved university. At the onset of his speech, the rector discussed with the audience a number of matters related to many academic activities and events that have not been announced to the public yet as well as some scientific outputs that need to be disseminated, pointing out that the services and innovations of any professor should be parallel to his/her academic rank.

Also Dr. Munir al-Saadi indicated that the humanities disciplines represent 65% of the teaching faculty at the University of Baghdad but their research and contribution are not indicated in global repositories, adding that there are five journals for humanities accredited by Scopus, in line with several negotiations under way with the Holland Group to develop a specific field of research for the stem cells, with cooperation with the Unihouse Limited Company in London for the construction of an English Language Center. Other issues were discussed related to a residential complex on the airport road, salaries or malicious complaints where the rector recommended the need for raising the level of performance of the educational institution, marketing the scientific outputs, inviting investors, coordination with state departments, as well as the need to create a group of mutual research and work teams to reflect on the university’s academic achievements.
