The basic sciences branch at the college of dentistry held an online symposium on “The antimicrobial sensitivity test” via Zoom platform with the participation of several professors and postgraduate students at the college. The researchers explained that this test is used to help find the best treatment for a bacterial infection relating to the sensitivity of microbes to different antibiotics and the ability of those antibiotics to inhibit the growth of them. They confirmed that there are many qualitative and quantitative methods that can be used in this regard since some types of microbes get mutations. Also the researchers dealt with the significance of understanding the genetic background of microbes, the sensitivity of the strain under test, its toxicity, composition and absorption by the body.
