The postgraduate lab at the department of chemistry in collaboration with Ibn Sina unit for e-learning and the continuing education unit at the college of science have organized recently a virtual workshop entitled “materials analysis using spectroscopic technologies” with the participation of a number of postgraduate students and those interested in biotechnology and chemistry.
The workshop was presented by Dr. Ali Walid, Assist. Prof. Dr. Hind Hadi, Lecturer Fatima Hamdi and the Lecturer Zainab Amer with the aim to address some mechanisms used for conducting spectral analysis of chemical materials and the infrared spectroscopy as well as to identify the flow cytometry technique used to detect and measure physical and chemical characteristics of a group of cells or particles in addition to identifying cells and chromosomes by spectroscopic and ultraviolet radiation. Then the lecturers clarified the uses of absorption spectroscopy for the designation of the various functions of compounds under study and the multiparametric method used for the analysis of physical and chemical properties and mass spectroscopy technology used for the analysis of absorption or reflection in the visible light spectrum.
