The department of remote sensing and geographic information systems at the college of science launched an extensive working mechanism for opening prospects of coordination with public institutions and the private sectors by marketing the research projects of its faculty members and postgraduate students to be within the reach of state departments, in accordance with the directives of the ministry of higher education and scientific research.

This coordination initiative was adopted by the scientific advisor to the Prime Minister, Dr. Zaid Farhoud Makki who submitted an integrated study to the minister of health Dr. Hassan al-Tamimi for providing the students of the fourth grade with the required data for conducting spatial analyses to follow-up the spread of Covid-19 epidemic in the country. It is noteworthy that the research team headed by the fourth grade student (Maryam Hussein Ali) visited the operations department of the directorate of operations and medical services for obtaining all data necessary for the epidemiological situation at the present which will facilitate the identification of infection areas and offering vaccines throughout the country.
