The department of mathematics, in collaboration with the continuing education unit at the faculty of science organized a workshop entitled “The role of mathematics in reducing the Covid-19 pandemic” in the presence of a number of professors, students and those concerned with medical affairs and pure sciences.

The lectures were delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Zeina Zaki Jameel and Assist. Prof. Dr. Alaa Abbas with the aim to interpret certain mathematical theories that explain the spread of viruses via using differential equations. The lecturers identified the importance of mathematics in the face of global challenges, such as the current pandemic and how to exploit the increasingly evolving basic sciences for community service and the most important new mathematical technologies developed, with a review of some mathematical models and data analysis in order to make the right decisions towards responding to critical environmental conditions.
