The department of physics at Ibn al-Haitham college of education for pure & applied sciences held recently a workshop on the “Migration of scientific competencies from the point of view of the incoming professors and their personal experiences” which is one of the most serious problems facing development programs in Iraq and that results in an economic loss and disaster.

The participants tried to study this case and to find appropriate solutions by seeking to formulate a clear strategy that can be reflected into an action plan to attract such minds and encourage them to return to their homeland, and invest them to achieve comprehensive development in Iraq. There are many means that can assist in this regard such as filling appropriate positions, allocating rewarding salaries, providing housing allowance or easy loans of low interest.

The workshop concluded with a number of recommendations, including estimating the potential of scientists, activating the scientific climate for research and development, covering the costs of publishing research and attending conferences, as well as filling jobs on the basis of competence.
