The center for strategic and international studies at the University of Baghdad, in collaboration with the research department of the Iraqi parliament held the 19th Annual International Scientific Conference under the slogan (Iraqi National Security and the Challenges of the Next Phase) in the presence of the university rector, Prof. Dr. Imad Hussein Mirza Al-Husseini and chairman of the Security and Defense Committee of the Iraqi Parliament, Mohammed Rida Al-Haidar.
The participants tried to discuss matters related to the unstable security situation in Iraq after 2003 which is one of the most critical issues and how to develop effective solutions through studying the political, economic and social axes that all must be taken into account by decision makers.
Also the lecturers referred to the issue of internal security challenges represented by human security issues which in turn undermine the security of the citizen and the instability of the whole political system, as well as the external political challenges faced by the country along with the conflict within our region that cast its shadows negatively.
