The department of Arabic language at the college of education for women has organized recently its annual celebration on the occasion of the World Arabic Language Day (WALD) on December 18 in the attendance of Associate Rector for administrative affairs at the University of Baghdad Prof. Dr. Hussein Kareem and a number of senior professors and academic personalities.

The aim of this ceremony is to revive the legacy of this great language and to promote its affiliation as the language of the Holy Quran and that of Arabic poetry. At the onset of this event, Assist. Prof. Dr. Janan Qahtan Farhan head of the department delivered a speech in which she stated that there is no doubt that the language in any society is a bridge of communication between peoples and a tool for expressing and combining influence as well as a means of cultural exchange to convey science, knowledge and literature. During this event twenty-two working papers were presented on various linguistic aspects including a number of poetry readings.
