The college of media at the University of Baghdad held the 12th scientific conference under the slogan “Media and Civil Peace” with the participation of a number of Iraqi and Arab researchers, academics and journalists chaired by the university rector Prof. Dr. Imad Hussein Mirza Al-Husseini. In his speech, the rector confirmed the importance of media trends in reflecting the events taking place in the countries of the developed world, pointing out that Iraq today needs the unity of its community in light of the civil peace culture. Also he talked about the great significance of information and communication technology at the current age in the progress of nations.

The conference witnessed the presentation of many researches in the fields of media, namely citizenship and its role in promoting civil peace in Iraq along with the psychosocial motivations and mechanisms of the political programs broadcasted on the Iraqi satellite channels and their implications on our society.

A number of Arab and Iraqi researchers presented papers such as “the coverage of the press civil peace in Sudan: The case of Darfur as a model (An applied study on Al-Sudani newspaper)” by Prof. Dr. Abdul Nabi Abdullah Al-Tayeb from The Nile Valley University in Sudan, “ The role of social media in spreading the culture of civil peace from the point of view of university professors” by Dr. Hafiz Yassin al-Hiti from the department of media at the college of arts, the University of Anbar, “Protecting human rights and their impact in promoting civil peace” by Prof. Dr. Ziad Abdul Wahab al-Nuaimi head of the department of public policy at the Center for Regional Studies, the University of Mosul.
