The University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Federal Board of Supreme Audit, organized a specialized workshop to address the administrative observations contained in the Board’s reports. The workshop was attended by the President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Atiyah Hassan, the Deputy Director General of the Public Services Activity Audit Department at the Board, Dr. Wissam Nasr Khalil, and a number of specialists in the fields of auditing and financial and administrative oversight.
The workshop featured lectures by Dr. Wissam Nasr Khalil, Deputy Director General of the Public Services Activity Audit Department at the Federal Board of Supreme Audit; Dr. Haifa Yousif Sulaiman, Director of the Auditing and Internal Control Section at the University of Baghdad; and Mr. Saif Saadi Ali, Head of the Working Body at the University of Baghdad. They addressed the legal and procedural remedies for audit observations, the mechanisms for correcting financial and administrative courses of action and reducing the recurrence of violations, as well as the requirements for preparing financial statements in accordance with approved accounting systems.
The President of the University of Baghdad affirmed the University’s appreciation of the significant national and professional role played by the Federal Board of Supreme Audit in protecting public funds, entrenching integrity and transparency, and evaluating institutional performance. He stressed the importance of expanding cooperation with the Board in the areas of training, capacity building, and keeping pace with audit instructions and decisions.
The workshop forms part of the University’s orientation toward strengthening preventive oversight, addressing observations at their roots, and entrenching a culture of compliance and accountability, thereby contributing to improved financial and administrative performance and the safeguarding of public funds.
This activity supports the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal Sixteen (peace, justice, and strong institutions), as well as Goal Seventeen (partnerships for the goals).
