The University of Baghdad held a memorial ceremony to commemorate the former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and former President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Sami Abdul Mahdi Al-Muzaffar, and to highlight his scientific and academic career and his contributions to the service of higher education in Iraq.
The ceremony, held in Al-Idrisi Hall at the College of Science, was attended by the President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hasan Al-Zughaibi; the Head of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate, Prof. Dr. Ali Musayyir Yassin; the Head of the Scientific Research Authority, Prof. Dr. Shafiq Al-Mawla; and the Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Raed Falih Hassan, along with a number of faculty members and academic figures, as well as members of the late professor’s family.
The President of the University of Baghdad delivered an address on the occasion, recalling the career of Dr. Sami Al-Muzaffar and the efforts he made in the academic field and in service of the University of Baghdad. He noted that the late professor had devoted a large part of his life to serving science and the nation, believing that building people through knowledge is the surest path to building nations, and that the university is a space for creating knowledge, awareness, and the future.
The occasion concluded with a remembrance of the late professor’s life and his scientific and academic contributions, in an atmosphere marked by loyalty and appreciation, with the participation of his family members, who joined the university community in commemorating his career and legacy.
