University of Baghdad is sharing its academic and institutional expertise with a national program training Iraqi university leaders for 2030.
Assistant President for Scientific Affairs Prof. Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah took part in the fourth round of the “Iraqi University Leaders Toward Excellence and Sustainability 2030” program, organized by the National Center for Administrative Development and Information Technology at the Ministry of Planning. The program targeted assistant university presidents and college deans from Karbala University and Jaber ibn Hayyan University of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, along with a number of directors general from the Baghdad Mayoralty.
During the training session, Abdullah delivered a specialized lecture titled “Institutional Governance and Academic Excellence,” addressing the foundations of governance and its role in improving university performance, strengthening efficiency, transparency, and management quality, and establishing sound institutional practices to achieve academic excellence in line with sustainability requirements and the development of higher education.
The university’s participation reflects its role in transferring academic and institutional expertise and building the capacity of Iraqi university leaders, while promoting the exchange of modern administrative and academic practices to support institutional development and improve performance across Iraqi universities in pursuit of the 2030 excellence and sustainability goals.
The activity supports three Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 4 (quality education), Goal 16 (peace, justice, and strong institutions), and Goal 17 (partnerships for the goals).
