The University of Baghdad Council convened its twentieth session for the 2025–2026 academic year under the chairmanship of President Professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Al-Zughaybi, with members in attendance. The meeting addressed a series of strategic, administrative, and academic files, alongside directives aimed at strengthening institutional performance and enhancing the campus environment.
Dr. Al-Zughaybi stressed the importance of utilizing the summer recess to complete reconstruction projects across university formations. He underscored the need for optimal use of financial resources, applying the highest standards of precision and transparency in expenditure management to ensure effective project implementation and infrastructure development.
In anticipation of rising temperatures and to mitigate fire risks, the President directed the establishment of a central committee tasked with conducting regular inspection visits to university formations to assess safety measures. Administrative orders were also issued to form specialized committees responsible for preparing detailed safety requirement reports, with strict emphasis on prohibiting smoking across all university facilities to safeguard staff, students, and public property.
On the academic front, Dr. Al-Zughaybi assigned the Scientific Assistant to organize a specialized workshop dedicated to studying mechanisms for updating curricula in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The initiative is designed to align with academic advancements, quality standards, and labor market needs. The President himself will deliver the keynote lecture at the workshop, reaffirming his commitment to leading curriculum development efforts and elevating the outcomes of the educational process.
