Building on the outcomes of the recent coordination meeting between University President Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Al-Zughaybi and Baghdad Mayor Eng. Ammar Musa Kazem, which focused on activating frameworks of collaboration between academic and service institutions, the University has begun implementing practical steps to translate these understandings into tangible results aimed at improving the service and environmental reality of Iraq’s mother university.
In this context, the Presidency of the University of Baghdad received Eng. Jassim Al-Daraji, Director of Karrada Municipality, and Eng. Adel Bashir, Director of Rusafa Municipality, in a visit dedicated to exploring avenues of joint field cooperation between the University and municipal departments in the capital.
Discussions centered on urgent service measures, including the complete removal of sanitary waste, treatment of street subsidence in side roads, and clearing dry weeds and brush surrounding university buildings to reduce fire risks and improve the campus environment.
The two sides also agreed to launch a broad service campaign with the participation of Baghdad Municipality formations and specialized equipment. In recognition of their cooperation and efforts to support service projects and enhance the university environment, the President honored the Directors of Karrada and Rusafa Municipalities.
