The University of Baghdad marked the remembrance of Ashura by raising the Hussaini banner atop the university’s main tower, in the presence of President Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Al-Zughaybi and a delegation from the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein led by Dr. Khalil Al-Tayyar, Advisor for External Relations. The ceremony embodied the enduring ethical and human values of Imam Hussein’s revolution.

The Idrisi Hall at the College of Science hosted the commemorative program, attended by faculty members, students, and staff alongside the shrine’s delegation. Opening remarks emphasized the significance of drawing lessons from Imam Hussein’s stand in reinforcing principles of reform, awareness, and social responsibility.

In his address, the University President affirmed that commemorating Ashura reflects the pioneering role of academic institutions in fostering cultural and religious awareness and in embedding noble human values. He stressed that Imam Hussein’s banner remains an eternal symbol of reform and justice.

Dr. Khalil Al-Tayyar, Advisor for External Relations at the Holy Shrine, praised the role of universities in shaping awareness and disseminating knowledge. He underscored that academic institutions provide a vital environment for engaging with the intellectual and cultural dimensions of Imam Hussein’s message and instilling them in future generations.
